Bat for Lashes @ Music Hall of Williamsburg May 2,2009
Last Saturday (May 5, 2009) I attended the Bat for Lashes Show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Bat for Lashes aka Natasha Khan is from Brighton UK, and just released a new EP called “The Two Suns.” Bat for Lashes music is best compared to the likes of Bjork.
The show was simply put – great. I never thought I was into the whole “dark side – creepy dreamy stuff” but I think she won me over. The music is incredibly atmospheric and really takes you on a journey into a dark dream – imagine yourself in that movie with David Bowie and Jenifer Connolly – The Labyrinth? Her voice is simply put – unique she is one hell of a singer the intonations in her voice bring her closer to an opera singer than a rock star.

What a great night.
Once again rode my bike from Staten Island to work in Dumbo. So so nice.
Been reading the Smiles of Rome – a compilation of excerpts from different people through history on their thoughts and experiences of Rome. I barely remembering studying there for 6 months. I wish I could get that time back and relive it…
Went to the really awesome Au Revoir Simone show at the very intimate Union Pool – thanks Heather! – at Union Pool – it was fantastic! the girls are extraordinary. I’ve been wanting to see them for a very long time. Luckily I will get to see them again in May =).
Tomorrow going to see Crooked Fingers – been really excited about them for a very short time but they sound terrific. Friday will go with Susan to see Great Lake Swimmers – saw them in February and they were amazing.
